Make Voting Easier: Urge Legislators to Support the Plain Language Bill

Call your NY State Legislators to support a bill that would make it easier to vote.

The language on ballots is often really hard to understand, which makes it harder for voters to have their voices heard and even discourages people from voting. The “Plain Language Bill” would ensure that language on ballots is easy to understand by requiring that ballot measures and amendment proposals be written in plain and clear language.

What can you do? Call Your Legislators to Co-Sponsor the bill (known as A1722 in the Assembly and S1381 in the State Senate). The Let NY Vote Campaign and Common Cause make it easy to act — find directions, a script, and additional information here.
