Why are you voting this year?
This year, I’m voting to stand up for immigrant rights and advance policies that directly support the communities I work with every day. Supporting the democratic agenda aligns with my commitment to building stronger, more inclusive services for migrants, ensuring they have the resources and respect they deserve.
What changes do you want to see in your community?
In terms of community changes, I want to see more support tailored specifically for families arriving together, an expansion of the Keep Families Together program, and broader access to work authorization and asylum eligibility. These changes would strengthen our community’s capacity to provide stability and opportunity for migrant families, allowing them to build safer and more secure lives.
How do you feel about this year’s election and what’s on the ballot?
I’m feeling somewhat hesitant about voting this year due to limited support for the immigrant community. However, the extreme statements from the Republican candidate have solidified my decision to cast my vote against him.
What would you say to change the mind of someone who doesn’t plan to vote?
I encourage you to educate yourself on the policies that directly impact your community and how politicians are addressing those issues. Don’t let the news, slander campaigns, or superficial personality traits sway your opinions. Focus on the facts, and consider how candidates’ positions align with your values and the needs of your community. Your informed vote is essential for driving meaningful change.
What’s your voting plan?
I plan to vote in person.
On Election Day, where do you plan to watch the election results?
On Election Day, I plan to watch the election results come in through NPR for their reliable coverage and in-depth analysis. I might also check in on other news outlets for a broader perspective on the unfolding events.
